The details of upcoming events will be posted here as they are announced.
The Centre for People, Innovation and Performance successfully chaired an event aimed at encouraging successful research funding.
On the 29th of November The Centre for People, Innovation and Performance, in association with the British Academy of Management ran a seminar titled: ‘Gaining Research Funding’.Centre leader Professor Helen Shipton identified that a major challenge and opportunity facing Business and Management scholars is securing external funding to support their work and to demonstrate impact. We therefore devised an event that would draw upon the insights of leading academics who have been successful in attracting research funding.Professors Greg Bamber, Nelarine Cornelius and David Knights; 3 world renowned academics who between them have secured several million pounds of funding, each gave a presentation and held a panel discussion in which they shared their insights and experiences on achieving research funding success, as well as identifying the pitfalls associated with particular funding sources.
The event was a great success, with academics from all over the country attending and engaging in a lively debate. The event was also attended by several PhD students, many of whom remarked that ‘It was an excellent event, and a great learning opportunity for early career researchers’.
This is now the second event chaired by the Centre for people Innovation and performance, and we hope to run similar Research Seminars in the future. To stay up to date, and to find out about all future events and activities please keep checking our website.
